Fuel Efficient Demonstrator (FED) Design and Build PhaseSeptember 01, 2009 –The Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) has provided funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to develop a Fuel Efficient Demonstrator (FED) vehicle for the U.S. Army. The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) has partnered with World Technical Services, Inc. (WTSI) in Troy, MI., as the lead contractor for the design and build of a Fuel Efficient ground vehicle Demonstrator. Throughout this project, TARDEC and WTSI will focus on leveraging local engineering expertise, which is expected to help create and maintain more than thirty jobs within the state. The objective will be to identify technologies and hi-tech companies in the region to bring together a plan demonstrating reduced fuel consumption for military light tactical vehicles. The plan is to design and fabricate a full-scale, fully operational demonstrator by July of 2011. This project is planned to be a continuous collaboration between U.S. Government, WTSI and other local businesses. World Technical Services, Inc. (WTSI) is a subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, and was created to be the center of excellence for logistics support, range operations/ maintenance/ engineering, sustainment and technical services market. The Troy, Michigan, office was launched in an effort to support the Department of Defense through a contract with the National Automotive Center (NAC) at the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM) in Warren. WTSI’s core effort has been, and continues to be, to provide excellence in CAE, CAD and systems integration for military ground vehicles. Contact: CorpCom@asrcfederal.com |
